MAGNOLIA — A husband and wife were arrested Wednesday after investigation into a series of alleged residential burglaries in the Pickering Beach, Bowers Beach and Magnolia areas, authorities said.

David E. Moore, 22, and Sarah R. Moore, 21, were taken into custody at their residence, according to the Delaware State Police.

State police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary E. Fournier said detectives looked for similarities in burglaries between the beginning of September and mid-October and determined the primary suspects.

Authorities said the alleged burglaries consisted of a home break-in where items such as jewelry, loose change and televisions were taken and then pawned at shops for cash.

Charges included second-degree burglary (six counts), second-degree conspiracy (four counts), theft (eight counts), criminal mischief (three counts), selling stolen property, and falsifying business records.

The defendants were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and held by the Delaware Department of Correction on cash bonds — Mr. Moore for $82,300 and Mrs. Moore for $34,400.

Police said owners have identified some of the allegedly stolen property, which was returned to them.
