LEWES — A 42-year-old Milford woman was charged with theft after an investigation into a negative balance in a boosters club account, Delaware State Police said.

Cape Henlopen School District told detectives on June 1 that a high school boys lacrosse boosters account was allegedly missing several thousand dollars.

Stephanie L. Trimmer, who was booster club president, was the only person since 2016 to have full access to the account, state police said.

Investigating detectives allegedly found that starting around February 2016, Ms. Trimmer wrote out checks to herself for cash at various banks in eastern Sussex County and did not turn in receipts to the treasurer. She continued until March 2017 when the account had been depleted of approximately $27,995, state police alleged.

Ms. Trimmmer was arrested on a felony theft of over $1,500 charge on Thursday.

She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
