Caesar Rodney High had 11 wrestlers finish in the top four of their weight classes in winning the team title at the Milford Invitational on Saturday.
Alexander McEvoy (106 pounds) was the lone individual champion for the Riders, who finished with 232 points in the 14-team, one-day tournament. Delaware Military was second with 211 points while Milford took third with 209.
Milford captured four individual titles as Trevor Copes (120), Jack Thode (132), Averi Copes (152) and Tim O’Hara (160) all won their brackets.
The only other champion from the Henlopen Conference was Greg Long (182) of Polytech.
Central wins Delmar title: Sussex Central won six individual titles and collected 326 points to capture the team championship at the Delmar Invitational on Saturday.
The Golden Knights finished ahead of second-place Lake Forest (233.5) and Indian River (177) in the 13-team tourney.
Individually, Central got first-place finishes from Malachi Stratton (106), Chase Murray (113), Evan Cordrey (120), Evan Broomall (132), Caden Cope (152) and Josh Negron (182).
Lake Forest took four titles, with Case Dempsey (126), Cael Moyer (138), Abdullah Ahmad-Statts (145) and Cole Dempsey (160) all placing first.
The other winner from the Henlopen Conference was Indian River’s T.J. Burke (285).
Football
Milford’s Strickland to coach Gold: Milford High’s Shaun Strickland will be the Gold head coach in the 66th annual Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game.
Archmere’s John Bellace will coach the Blue in the contest, which is slated for June 17 in Delaware Stadium.
Strickland, the Caesar Rodney High grad, will be assisted by Nick Brannan (Milford) and Eston Ennis (Sussex Tech) along with Brian Timpson and Francis Clark, both from Appoquinimink.
Bellace selected two of his Archmere assistants, Ariene Gardner and Omar Richardson, as well as Isaiah Mays (Brandywine) and Rahsaan Matthews (Howard) to assist him.
Boys’ basketball
Archbishop Ryan, Pa. 73, Dover 54: The Senators fell behind 39-19 by halftime before dropping the non-conference road game on Sunday.
College basketball
WOMEN, Rutgers 74, Delaware State 36: Freshman guard Sianny Sanchez-Oliver led the Hornets with eight points in the non-conference loss on Sunday.
Alexis Moragne, Unique Miller and Correyain Wright all chipped in with six points each for DSU (0-8). Redshirt senior guard Janasia Law made her season debut off the bench by tallying three points, two assists and two rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
The Hornets will return to play on Saturday on the road at Lehigh. Tipoff from Stabler Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.
