BALTIMORE, Md. - The Delaware men’s basketball team was picked fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Poll while sophomore guard Kory Holden was selected preseason second-team All-CAA at the league’s Basketball Media Day held Tuesday at The Center Club.
Hofstra was selected to win the conference title according to a vote of the conference’s head coaches, media relations directors, and media members. James Madison was picked second in the poll, followed by Northeastern, William & Mary and Delaware. UNCW was selected sixth, ahead of Towson, Drexel, College of Charleston and Elon.
Holden appeared in 29 games while starting 28 a year ago, when he earned CAA All-Rookie team honors. He ranked second in the league with 5.0 assists per game and eighth with a 1.8 assist/turnover ratio, and was second on the Blue Hens and second among league freshmen with a 12.4 scoring average.
Holden’s 360 points were the second highest total ever by a UD freshman, and he became the first Blue Hen rookie to score at least 24 points in four games on the year.
Juan’ya Green of Hofstra was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the first team All-CAA by Ron Curry of James Madison, Ameen Tanksley of Hofstra, Terry Tarpey of William & Mary, and David Walker of Northeastern.
