DOVER — The state capital is now home to the first AAA Mid-Atlantic Car Care Center in Delaware, which opened its doors Monday morning.
The center is located in the Greentree Shopping Plaza in Dover, replacing the long vacant Blockbuster video store.
The new location is an expansion of the former retail store housed within the same shopping center.
“This is the first for the state of Delaware,” said Kathleen Miller, public affairs specialist for AAA Mid-Atlantic.
“We’re very proud. We had that retail store there for a quite a few years and with the new store people don’t have go out and look for us again. We’re right here. It’s a great benefit.”
The new center will offer car repair services for both members and non-members, in addition to roadside assistance, insurance and travel planning services currently offered to members.
Basic and plus members receive a 10 percent discount on repair labor, premier members receive a 12 percent discount and non-members will receive a one-year, 12,000-mile warranty on repairs.
The AAA Mid-Atlantic car care center services include maintenance, diagnostics and repairs such as tires, brakes, tune-ups, air conditioning and cooling systems, battery replacements and electrical work.
Dover resident Bob Norquest said the center is a great addition to the city.
“I’m glad that someone is able to do auto service close to where I live,” Mr. Norquest said. “It’s better than going to the dealership all of the time. It’s a great addition. That’s the best feature.
There are 22 car care centers across the AAA Mid-Atlantic service area, which includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and Delaware. This first one opened in 2011.
The center is also open on Saturday and Sunday as well, said Donna Jackson, retail store manager of the Dover center.
“We are excited about this new enhanced location,” said Ms. Jackson “By adding the availability of auto services to our other valuable amenities, we know we can continue to expand on our mission to provide trusted services to our members and non-members alike.”
