KEYS TO THE GAME: This is a game UD fans expect the Hens to win every time. After all, the Blue Hens were 10-0 vs. the Rams between 1989-2000. But there’s no reason to think today’s contest will be easy. A win over Delaware would go a long way toward boosting URI’s improving FCS credentials. The Rams are also trying to start a season 5-0 for just the fourth time in school history. ... After playing three quarterbacks last week and having two of them get injured, Delaware’s QB situation will probably be up in the air again today. Running specialist Anthony Paoletti will get his share of snaps but what the Hens can get out of either Nolan Henderson or Zach Gwynn is the question. Delaware did run for 361 yards against the Rams in the spring but Henderson also threw for 190. Having a balanced offense always helps. ... URI used two QBs in the spring meeting but Kasim Hill has become a real dual threat for the Rams this fall. A former starter at Maryland, he’s twice been named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Hill is throwing for 235.5 ypg and running for 47.0 while accounting for 9 TDs. Delaware’s defense will have to try to contain him.
NOTES: This is the third straight time that the two teams have played at Meade Stadium. ... Today’s game is one of five FCS matchups between two Top-25 teams. ... After rushing for a career-high 221 yards vs. URI in the spring, Dejoun Lee goes into this game with back-to-back 100-yard efforts. ... Rocco is 5-2 all-time vs. URI. ... Linebacker Colby Reeder has a team-leading 24 tackles for the Hens. ... Delaware is on the road again next Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. CAA game at Stony Brook.
