DOVER — Two city men were indicted this week in connection with a reported large fight in the Manchester Square neighborhood in late August.

Eric Stewart, 23, of the 100 block of South New Street, and Antwon D. Peace, 18, of the 3900 block of Peach Tree Run, were initially arrested after the Dover Police Department said it responded to an alleged incident at 8:30 p.m. involving more than 50 combatants,

The indictment listed an incident as occuring on or about Aug. 29.

On Monday in Superior Court, a Grand Jury brought charges against both men, including felony riot, misdemeanor offensive touching, and a loitering violation. The offensive touching counts stemmed from an alleged confrontation between Mr. Stewart and Mr. Peace, according to court papers.

Mr. Peace is also facing a felony resisting arrest count, misdemeanor menacing, and criminal mischief,

Mr. Stewart was charged with misdemenor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and breach of release. The indictment alleged that he violated conditions of a bond set on Aug. 29 at JP Court 7. The bond required that he have no contact with police.

According to the indictment, Mr. Peace allegedly “did ball up his fist and took a defensive posture and attempted to engage in fighting behavior.” The menacing count came from allegedly facing a Dover police officer, papers said.

The criminal mischief count against Mr. Peace came when he allegedly damaged a Dover PD officer’s uniform pants.

Dover police said law enforcement from state police, Cheswold, Camden, and Smyrna arrived to assist in managing and dispersing a gathered crowd. Six arrests were made overall, authorities said at the time.
