patch1docDOVER — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the National Shooting Sports Foundation — the trade association for the firearms industry — announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of firearms from Capital Pawn Shop in Dover.

Capital Pawn shop is a federal firearm licensee at 324 Martin St.

ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000.

This crime is being investigated by the Dover Police Department and the ATF.

According to police the incident occurred between 10:15 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Monday. Multiple items, including jewelry and numerous handguns and rifles were stolen.

Preliminary investigation found that the suspects cut a hole into the aluminum siding of Capital Pawn Shop to gain access.

The reward offer is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.

“ATF is working closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition of firearms and is dedicated to assisting and protecting our industry partners as well as the community from those who seek to illegally obtain firearms,” said Daniel L. Board Jr., special agent in charge for the ATF Baltimore Field Division.

“The ATF, along with the City of Dover Police Department and our other law enforcement partners, are committed to ensuring that our communities are safe and that those who violate federal firearm laws are held accountable.”

Investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Dover Police at 736-7130.

Callers may remain anonymous. Tips can also be submitted to law enforcement through tip lines maintained by Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, online at www.tipsubmit.com or through the Dover PD MyPD Mobile App.

Information can also be anonymously sent to ATF via the mobile app www.reportit.com by using the ATF Baltimore Field Division as the location.
