William Richard Mestro

DOVER - William Richard Mestro, Sr., "Bill" passed away, Tuesday, Mar. 21, 2017, at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Mestro was born, Jun. 19, 1935, in Atlantic City, N.J. to the late Frank Mestro and Helen Vitello Mestro.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957. After the service he worked for PathMark Supermarkets retiring in 1993 and then went to work for ShopRite Supermarkets as Director of Operations, from 1993 to 1998. Mr. Mestro enjoyed golfing at Garrisons Lake, watching Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and Phillies, however his biggest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth "Bettie" Neidinger Mestro of Dover; children, Vicki Crawford (Tim), of Amherst, Va., Denise Morris (Clarence), of South Boston, Va., Rich Mestro (Laura) and Terri Mestro (John Edwards), all of Camden; sister, Evelyn Pearson of Atco, N.J.; grandchildren, Meghan Munsey, Billy Mestro, III, Joey Crawford, Katy Pool, Jessica Mestro, Amanda Kara - Eneff, Eric Morris and Gregory Sayers; great grandchildren, Cameron, Emerson, Juliana, Brayden, Sawyer and Arabella.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 25, 2017, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
