William P. Maag, 97

DOVER - William P. Maag, 97, Dover, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was born on Oct. 31, 1912, in Dover, to the late William and Mattie Maag. He led a full life. Mr. Maag performed his Machinist apprenticeship during the Great Depression, attaining his Journeyman papers in 1933. He worked for Du Pont during World War II supporting the war effort. William continued to work in and around Dover specializing in canning and compression machinery working for Richard's and Robbins, Underwood, San Del, and Green Giant. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, sharing the bounty of his efforts with family and friends. Mr. Maag was preceded into death by his sister, Maggie; his wife, Elaise; and his daughter, Peg. He is survived by grandsons, Mark and Sean; and his great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and William. He will be missed. Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a private ceremony. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com.
