DOVER - William M. Yerkie Jr. of Dover passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at his home. He was 49.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1958, in Dover to William and Peggy Ann (Failing) Yerkie Sr.
Billy served in the U.S. Army between 1977 and 1981 in Fort Dix, N.J., and Fairbanks, Alaska.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, movies, "The Three Stooges," "The Twilight Zone," NASCAR, pets and to "party."
Billy grew up working in heating and air-conditioning for more than 25 years of his life with his father and brother.
He was one to always make you laugh to help you forget your problems.
Billy was kind and opinionated, always willing to lend a hand or offer the shirt off his back.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Peggy Yerkie Sr.; and his soul mate of 25 years, Tracy Hobbs.
He is survived by son and his mother, William M. "Rootie" Yerkie III and Connie Manbeck of Magnolia; brother, James B. Yerkie Sr. of Dover; sister, Tara A. Yerkie of Hartly; nephew, Aaron W. Pippin; nephew, Brandon R. Yerkie; niece, Ashley M. Yerkie; nephew, James B. Yerkie II, and their mother, Cheryl A.; uncle and his wife, Ernest and Marion Yerkie; uncle, Edward Yerkie; aunt, Doris Thompson; aunt, Laura Winkler; dear friend, Elizabeth Keyek; and many cousins.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
