William H. Hedderich

Hedderich, 95 DOVER - William H. Hedderich (Bill) passed away Sunday June 14, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Hedderich was born Feb. 20, 1920 in West Hoboken, N.J. He served 4 years in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Hedderich worked at General Foods for 43 years, retiring as a purchasing manager. He was a member of the Modern Maturity Center (MMC) in Dover and delivered Meals on Wheels five days a week, totaling over 9,000 volunteer hours. Mr. Hedderich was a do-it-yourself man and was still maintaining his own yard until a couple of years ago. He loved spending time watching his great grandchildren at sporting events. Grandpapa was their biggest fan. Late in life Mr Hedderich took up the harmonica and looked forward to playing gigs with the MMC group. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Gerlinde M. Buchmann, 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Susan B. Bailey and her husband Tom of Felton and Linda D. Malone and her husband Bill of Park City, Utah; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 15, 2015 at the Modern Maturity Center where friends may visit from 1:00 to 4:00. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Modern Maturity Center Meals on Wheels program or a charity of your choice.
