WYOMING - William E. Chapman, of Wyoming, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family. He was 78.

Mr. Chapman was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Holyoke, Mass.

Mr. Chapman served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 23 years as a senior master sergeant.

After his retirement from the service he worked for the state of Delaware's Family Court for 25 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover, the Del Vets Post 2 in Dover, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Millington, Md., Elks Lodge 1903 in Dover, and the Moose Lodge 534 in Harrington.

Mr. Chapman enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, surf fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Chapman of Wyoming; and four nieces.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Elks Lodge, 200 Saulsbury Road, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Elks Building Fund (Pavilion), P.O. Box 583, Dover, DE 19903-0583.
