MILFORD - William A. Briscoe, 95 of Galena, Md., died Monday, April 2, 2012 in Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford, Del. Mr. Briscoe was born on November 16, 1916, son of the late Frank H. and Florence Titter Briscoe. He was raised in Chesapeake City, Md., where he began farming. In the 1950's Bill moved to Galena where he continued farming and also worked for Woodall & Stidham, which he later owned and operated. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre with the 109th Infantry, 20th Division. Mr. Briscoe was a Life Member of Galena Vol. Fire Company where he had served as President, a Councilman for Galena for 18 years and the Mayor of Galena for 12 years. In addition, he was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington. He enjoyed hunting, baseball, soccer and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Prettyman Briscoe; a brother, Frank H. Briscoe; and a sister, Mae Clark Kane. Mr. Briscoe is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret Clarke Briscoe; three daughters, Sharon Jamison and her husband Tom, Robin Flaherty and her husband Richard and Donna Garrison; a son, Richard "Bruce" Northam and his wife Joanie; three grandchildren, Kelley Mardesich, Stacey Arnold, and Dennis 'D.J.' Davis, Jr; five great grandchildren, Mikayla, Noah and Davis Mardesich and Quinn and Wyatt Arnold; and extended family, David and Frances Schultz and Ben and Virginia Ellingsworth. Viewing will be, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, Md., where funeral service with Fireman's Honors will begin at 1 pm. Burial in Galena Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to the Galena Vol. Fire Company, P.O.
