Warren G. Steerman

Warren G. Steerman, 87

HARRINGTON - Warren G. Steerman, of Harrington, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Pennisula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was 87.

He was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Duffy, W.Va., to the late William and Sylvia Steerman.

Mr. Steerman was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and worked for several years with the CCC Camp.

After serving his country he became a truck driver for more than 50 years.

Mr. Steerman also owned Kent Building Supply Co. and did home improvements for 15 years during the early 1960s through 1970s.

He was a very hard worker, and considered a "Jack of All Trades" since he could fix almost anything.

He never retired because he was always fixing something for somebody.

Mr. Steerman loved his family and was always there to watch his sons play ball.

He was preceded in death by two children, Shirley and Gary Steerman; and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsia Leona Steerman of Harrington; sons, Warren G. Steerman and wife Connie of Harrington, Terry L. Steerman and wife Terri of Harrington; daughters, Linda L. Melton and husband James of Pendleton, S.C., and Tammy Shehan and husband Donald Jr. of Harrington; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rock Cave Independent Baptist Church, Rock Cave, W.Va., where friends may call one hour prior.

Local Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.

Interment will be in McCutchen Chapel Cemetery, W.Va.

Instead of flowers, family request donations to your local Hospice Center.
