HARRINGTON - Walter L. Voss, Jr., passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Mr. Voss was born in Harrington, Del. the son of the late Walter L. Voss, Sr. and Alva (Gerardi) Voss . He began his working career at the Harrington Fair Grounds selling peanuts, popcorn and sodas, receiving sliver dollars as payment. He then worked at Playtex in Dover for a year, at the DuPont Seaford Plant for a year and then as a International Freight Manager at the Dover Air Force Base in Civil Service for 36 years before retiring. He then worked at Walmart for another 10 years. He was a member of the Manship Chapel, where he sang in the Choir. He had a gun shop years ago, where friends could depend on him having their rifles ready for the hunting season. He was also an avid hunter. He also enjoyed playing the guitar as well as playing golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Parsons; and a brother Frank Voss. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Pat (Hendricks) Voss; two daughters, Teresa Faith Valdez and her husband Michael of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Connie Rogers, of Fla.; two sisters, Lena Paskey, of Harrington and Debbie Redden of Milford; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Pamela and Daniel, all of Fayetteville, N.C.; and an aunt, Rose Trotta. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at noon at the Manship Chapel, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton where friends may call from 10 am to noon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Manship Chapel, 4912 Burnite Mill Road, Felton, DE 19943. Arrangements by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.
