Virginia Lee Hurd, 81
MILFORD - Virginia Lee Hurd passed away peacefully at the Genesis- Milford Center on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Virginia was born on December 17, 1940 in Milford to the late George P. and Pearl (Williams) Beideman.
Virginia worked at Charles West Farms as a weighmaster for over thirty years. She was also an active part of her community. For over twenty years, she was the secretary for the Cedarfield Ruritan Club, in addition to many other offices she held. She also was an active member of Calvary Church in Milford, and the Milford Grange. In recent years, her proudest accomplishment was taking part in the Grandparents Program at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jonathan Herman Hurd, Sr.; her son at birth, Thomas Michael Hurd; and three siblings, Ruth Ann Beideman, Clara Fish, and Charles Beideman.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Donald Beideman (Madelyn), Jonathan 'Jack' Hurd, Jr. (Cathy), and Cathy Rios (Rick); her sister, Katherine Roberts; her brother, George Beideman; six grandchildren, Donnie Beideman, Maribeth Shoun, Jeremy Hurd (Jeanna), Jonathan Wells, Logan Rios, and Carson Rios; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; as well as the Rios Family, who treated her like their own.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Church, 301 SE Front St., Milford, DE 19963. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Cedarfield Ruritan Club, 1871 New Wharf Rd., Milford, DE 19963 or to Calvary Church.
