DOVER - Verna M. Cohee, 91, of Dover, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at her home with family. She was born on Dec. 14, 1920, in Willow Grove, the ninth surviving child to the late Orville and Carrie Scholer Moore. Mrs. Cohee was raised in Viola, attending Viola school and graduating from Felton High School. She married Lester Elmer Cohee in 1938. During the 1940's and 50's she worked for W T Grant Company, eventually becoming manager. She resigned in 1959 to raise her son. Upon the death of her husband in 1969, she reentered the work force eventually retiring as assistant manager of WSFS in 1985. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for many years and did volunteer work for the Blood Bank of Delaware. She was a member of Parents without partners, the Dover and Harrington senior centers and the Red Hatters. She was a faithful and loyal friend and was always ready to lend a hand, a dollar, or a word of advice. She traveled extensively, was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and ballroom dancing, and was always ready to try just about anything. She is survived by her son, Eddie Cohee of Milford; sister, Becky Johnson of Dover; and many nieces and nephews. Remembrance Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospice, who were so supportive in her final months, or The American Cancer Society.
