Thomas 'Howard' Everett, 78 SMYRNA - Thomas "Howard" Everett, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009, in the Chester River Hospital Chestertown, Md. He was 78. Mr. Everett was born March 13, 1931 in Kenton, the son of the late Roy and Edith Cook Everett. He worked as a Delaware State Trooper (Badge 13) for 20 years and started the K-9 Unit in 1958. Mr. Everett was a former Vice-President of the Retired Delaware State Troopers and served on the Board of Directors of the Delaware State Police Museum. He was an avid Phillies fan and on his 75th birthday attended the Phillies Phantasy Camp in Clearwater, Fla. Mr. Everett was a member of Harmony Lodge 13 AF&AM in Smyrna, and a member of the Delaware Senior Olympics, where he competed in bowling and softball. His favorite hobbies were woodworking, collecting Depression Glass, gardening and feeding birds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly; a sister, Betty Shannon; a brother, Donald Everett; and his step-son, Gary Lamborn. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lois Norris Everett; three daughters, Mary Lynn Linscott and her husband, David, Sherry Daisey and her husband, Larry and Cynthia Vollmer; three sisters, Peggy Snow, Louise Berry and Shirley Steele; two brothers, Allen and Leroy "Jim" Everett; his grandchildren, Stephanie D. Moody and her husband, Chris, Jillian D. Wilson and her husband, Chris, Gabrielle and Erienne Kilgore, and Tiffany and Thomas Vollmer; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Ryan and Benjamin Moody and Rileigh and Brennan Wilson; his step-children, Christine Woodward and her husband, William, Robert Lamborn and his girlfriend, Cindy Gustin, Judy Lamborn, and Linda Boulden and her husband, Arty; his step-grandchildren, Richard Woodward, Megan Hajik, Jeffrey, Shalyn and Mariah Boulden, Katy O'Connell and her husband, Patrick, Gary Lamborn and his wife, Danielle, Kimberly and Julie Lamborn, Kevin Lamborn and his wife, Michelle, and Robert Lamborn Jr.; his step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Colleen, Nora, Sidney, Gabriella, Siera, Austin, Hayden, Michael, Brennan, Makenna, Landan, Kellan and Taedan; and his great friends, Jim and Sonia Hill, Ray Deputy, Bill Clark and Ernie Freeman. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 in the Hockessin Friends Cemetery, Hockessin. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Delaware State Police Museum, P.O. Box 430, Dover, DE 19903; or to Camp Boggy Creek, 30500 Brantley Branch Road, Eustis, FL 32736. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
