WILMINGTON - Thelma L. Messick, 87, with her family at her side, peacefully left this world to be with the Lord. She will join her husband, Francis, of 60 years, her parents Raymond and Bessie Nichols, 15 siblings and extended family. Thelma will be greatly missed but we are at peace knowing she is with the Lord in heaven. She is survived by her sons, Franny and his wife Darlene, Barry and his wife Sandy; her daughter, Robin Ladd and her husband Alan. Thelma is also survived by six grandchildren, Trina Yeager and her husband Mark, Darin Messick and his wife Danielle, Ryan Messick, Breanna, AJ and Brooke Ladd; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Yeager, Isabella and Emily Messick. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 18, at noon, at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit from 11 to noon. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In the last two years of Thelma's life she attended Evergreen, an Alzheimer's treatment center, where she especially enjoyed music and singing her favorite songs.
