NEW CASTLE - Sylvester Smith, father of Katie Taylor, born in Maryland on Sunday, February 13, 1910; departed this live on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Sylvester leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Katie Taylor; four grandchildren, Faith Morris, Hope Hicks, Sylvester Taylor and Rayfield Taylor III; four step-daughters; one step son; 18 additional grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 99 great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren; one special niece, Taylor Groves; and a host of other family and friends. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 108 1st Street, Bridgeville, Del. A public viewing will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with formal home-going services to follow.
