Stephen Johnson, 86

CAMDEN - Stephen Johnson, of Camden, and formerly of Clifton, N.J., died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, in his home with his family at his side. He was 86. Born in Clifton, he retired to Palm Coast, Fla., before relocating to Delaware in 2004. Johnson was a World War II veteran and worked as an auto body repair specialist in Clifton upon returning from the war. He married the former Eleanor Wilkening of Clifton in 1947. They were members of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church before moving to Florida. Johnson is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor of Camden; son, Stephen Johnson and his wife Gloria of Clifton, N.J.; son, Gregory Johnson and his wife Karen of Wayne, N.J.; and five grandchildren, Kimberly, Stephen and Michael of Clifton, and Christopher and Melissa of Wayne. Funeral services were private. Family and friends may call at the home of Gregory Johnson on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, between 2 and 5 p.m. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Delaware Hospice for their compassionate and professional care. Donations would be greatly appreciated and can be made at www.delawarehospice.org. Arrangements were handled by the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
