HARTLY - Stanley J. Iplenski Sr. of Hartly passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 93.
He was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Philadelphia, son of the late Joseph and Rose (Paczynska) Iplenski.
Mr. Iplenski was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Marydel, Md.
He was raised in Philadelphia and moved to Hartly with his family in 1946.
Mr. Iplenski was a loving and dedicated father of 11 children.
He worked for Chrysler in Newark and retired in 1976.
Mr. Iplenski was an avid gardener, and he enjoyed family gatherings. He also enjoyed fishing and pinochle, and was a checkers champion.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, three daughters, and his devoted son, E. David Iplenski.
He is survived by his wife, Marian "Dolly" Iplenski; a son and his wife, Stanley J. and Gretta Iplenski Jr. of Hartly; a son and his wife, Raymond J. and Margaret Iplenski of Hartly; a stepson and his wife, James and Paula Walker of Hartly; a stepson and his wife, John and Susan Ellmore of Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter and her husband, Carol E. and George Woodrum of Dover; a daughter, Marjorie R. Cox of Hartly; a daughter, Theresa Pleasanton of Hartly; a daughter, Victoria M. Kimbel of Hartly; a daughter and her husband, Geraldine M. and Harry Davis of Hartly; a stepdaughter, Marion "Sugar" Seward of Hartly; a stepdaughter and husband, Doris and Joe Bean of Marydel; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Peters of Marydel; a daughter-in-law, Joann Gallichio-Iplenski; his dear friends, James Remondi and Hank Briggs; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Remembrance services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
