Shirley Strong Pinder

Shirley Strong Pinder, 82 CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Shirley Strong Pinder, died May 28, 2010, in the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, Md. Shirley was born on September 4, 1927 in Chestertown, daughter of the late Ringgold and Minnie Armbruster Strong. She was a 1944 graduate of Chestertown High School. For 31 years she was employed by the Manhattan Shirt Company in Salisbury, Md. She returned to Chestertown in 2000 where she enjoyed living and the activities at Chestertown Landing. Shirley loved her family and traveling to Dollywood. She was preceded in death by her husband Kennard W. Pinder in 1981 and a daughter Sara Pinder. Shirley is survived by three children; Patsy Unruh and her husband Denny of Chestertown, Md., Thomas Pinder and his wife Jo of Colora, Md., and Nancy Byrd and her husband Danny of North East, Md., a step-brother, W. Ringgold Strong of Chestertown, five grandchildren; Karen Kennedy, Allen McHenry, Shawn Pinder, Connie Graham, and Douglas Pinder, eight great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandson. Burial will be held privately in Elkton Cemetery, Elkton, MD. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
