CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Sarah E. Blackiston of Chestertown died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, in Chester River Manor, Chestertown. She was 74.
Mrs. Blackiston was born June 7, 1932, in Millington, daughter of the late George Alfred and Rosie E. Luff Hurtt.
She was a cashier for the A&P in Chestertown for 17 years, retiring in 1983. After retiring she and her husband moved to Duck Neck.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilmer Hurtt, Edward Hurtt, Carl Hurtt, Wesley Hurtt and James Hurtt; and a sister, Linda Hurtt.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Blackiston; a son and a daughter-in-law, George William and Dolores McMullen of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Joyce Lee and John Lindauer of Crumpton; a stepson, Charles "Duke" Blackiston of Chestertown; a stepdaughter, Anna Marie Conner of West Virginia; a brother, George "Junior" Hurtt of Worton; a sister, Pauline Boone of Dover, Del.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour earlier.
