S. Robert 'Bobby' Nickerson CHESTERTOWN, MD - S. Robert "Bobby" Nickerson, died April 9, 2010 in Washington Hospital Center. Bobby was born on June 23, 1935, son of the late Samuel R. and Marian States Nickerson. He was a lifetime resident of Chestertown where he began his career with Acme in Chestertown and Rock Hall. In 1965 he built Nickerson Market on Flatland Rd. owning and operating it until late 1972. In 1973 he accepted a full time position with J. Willis Wells Funeral Service, working for nearly 20 years until Mr. Wells' retirement. He continued in the funeral service and was currently with Steve and Dawn Schaech. He was a life member of Kent & Queen Anne's Rescue Squad, where he had served as treasurer for many years. Bobby enjoyed attending Chestertown Town Meetings, Spence's Auction in Dover and Dover Downs, Saturday morning breakfast with Mr. Wells at the Masonic Lodge and riding around town in his P.T. Cruiser. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne "Jitter" Nickerson; and a dear sister-in-law, Terry Nickerson. Bobby is survived by his brother, Richard Nickerson; a nephew, Dickie Nickerson and his wife Beverly, all of Chestertown; a niece Amy Nickerson of Rock Hall; and two great nieces, Emmie Nickerson and Madison Hanyok. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where friends may call 2 hours prior.
