Ruth S. Keis

DOVER - Ruth S. Keis, of Dover, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. She was 76. Mrs. Keis was born Nov. 10, 1934, in New Castle, Pa., to the late Frank Schwamel and Gladys Speerhas Schwamel. She had worked for H&R Block as a tax advisor/accountant for many years. Mrs. Keis was a very caring and giving person. She loved reading, cooking, gardening, nature, at Bombay Hook and in her backyard. Mrs. Keis especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Dover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Keis in 2010. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Keis, Thomas Keis and his wife Pam; grandchildren, Adam and Ryan King and their mother Donna King, Rebekah and Thomas Keis Jr.; sister, Carol Saunders and her husband Bert; brother-in-law, William Keis and his wife Ann. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the 1st Baptist Church, 301 Walker Road, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be noon, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Cemetery, Rochester, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to 1st Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Keis or Doctors Without Borders USA, PO Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
