Ruth L. Eskenazi, 81

DOVER - Ruth L. Eskenazi of Dover died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 81.

Mrs. Eskenazi was born March 14, 1925, in Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Daisy Levy Soricelli and stepdaughter of the late John Soricelli. She had lived in New York, and then, in various parts of the world while her husband was in the U.S. Air Force, prior to moving to Dover in 1962.

Already a registered nurse, she later graduated from Delaware State College (now University), Dover, where she received a degree in business.

She had a unique ability in remembering others' special occasions, as she always would send a card, and was known for being very generous. She was an avid bridge player, playing several times a week.

Mrs. Eskenazi was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom, Dover, where she previously had served as an officer of the Beth Sholom Sisterhood. She was a 20-year volunteer at Luther Towers, Dover, and had been a participant with the Meals on Wheels program of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover. She also was a member of the Ladies of the Elk Lodge 1903.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria E. Boyd, in December 2005; and a grandson, Seth A. Boyd, in April 2006.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Morris Eskenazi of Dover; two daughters, Barbara Hoffmann and Dr. Louise Lueb, both of San Antonio; nine grandchildren, Adam Boyd, Joel Boyd, Rachel Boyd, Jason Moaney, Mechelle Umsted, Ron Lueb, Rhonda Anderson, Jessica Boyd and Melanie Boyd-Clark; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Congregation Beth Sholom, North Queen and Clara streets, Dover.

Burial will be in Mount Sharon Section of Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Congregation Beth Sholom, North Queen and Clara streets, Dover, DE 19904.
