Ruth Aldridge

Ruth Aldridge, 87 DOVER - Ruth Aldridge, of Dover, passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2008, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 87. She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Disputanta, Va., to the late Julius Watko and his wife Minnie Borova. Ruth was the seventh of eleven children. Mrs. Aldridge retired from F.W. Woolworth's located in the Blue Hen Mall, after more than 20 years as cashier in the cafeteria. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cake making, ceramic and many other crafts. She often displayed her work in local craft shows. She was a volunteer at the local Modern Maturity Center for over 20 years. She especially enjoyed making and selling flower arrangements at the center. A loving and caring mother and grandmother, Mrs. Aldridge will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Aldridge; their daughter, Ruth Marie; great-grandson, Aidan; brothers, Alex, Julian, Edward, Adolf, Walter, and Alfred; and a sister, Elsie Firment. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Ron Roseborough; two brothers, Albin and Norm; a sister, Helen Bellflower; two grandsons, Matthew Roseborough and wife Kylie and Adam Roseborough; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Abigail, Julia and Liam; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Chester, Va. Flowers are welcome or contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
