LAUREL - Roy James Weil, age 76, of Laurel, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Roy was born in District Twp., Pa., son of the late William and Dorothy (Miller) Weil. He was a Tire Builder for Firestone for 30 years, retiring in 1990. Roy was a Lifetime Member of the NRA and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his vegetable garden. Roy was an Air Force veteran, serving his country from 1954-1958. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Jay Weil; brother, Benjamin Weil; and sister, Mildred King. He is survived by his children, Susan Heckman of Henderson, Nev., and Scott Weil of Feasterville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Drew and Austin Heckman and Louis Devatucci; seven siblings, William, Gerald and David Weil, Virginia Christ, Mary Ann Augustine, Judy Gamler, and Diana Weil. A funeral service will be noon, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation after 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803; or Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, #101, Newark, DE 19713.
