DOVER - Overseer and Senior Pastor Rosie Lee Johnson, of Dover, passed on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 85.
Born in Eufala, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Amy Louder and the wife of the late Lonnie Johnson.
She was employed at Swift and Company in Georgetown, for 16 years and retired in 1980 to accept her first pastoral charge.
Rosie served as senior pastor of the Holy Tabernacle Church of Love for 23 years.
In 2003, she founded the Holy Trinity Church of the Living God and one year later the church began planning for their new edifice now located at 425 W. Division Street, Dover.
The opening of the church is planned for this spring.
Rosie was a beautician for over 40 years.
Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, church family and friends.
She also enjoyed designing floral arrangements.
She is survived by her 10 children, Robert and his wife Mildred of Houston, Martha and her husband John of Dover, Willie and his wife Bonnie of Mitchellville, Md., Sylvester and his wife Charletta of Bear, Alvin and his wife Marsha of Gurgaon, India, Donald of Dover, Penny and her husband Jimmy of Gaithersburg, Md., Cornelia of Middletown, Lonzenia and her husband Henry of Sterling, Va. and Rosie and her husband Alex of Dover; one stepson, Lonnie Jr. and his wife Valerie of Jacksonville, Fla.; 44 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four godchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit with her family from 5-7 p.m. Friday in Crossroads Christian Church, 4687 N. DuPont Highway, Dover, where a memorial service will be from 7-9 p.m.
Her funeral service will be at noon following a public viewing from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Crossroads Christian Church.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.
