MILTON - Ronald E. Ward Sr. of Milton passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2007. He was 44.
He was born Aug. 7, 1962, the son of Janet Hearne and Ronald Robinson.
Ronnie worked as a cook and delivery driver for Grotto's Pizza, Long Neck. He started his career with the Lewes Board of Public Works in the water department.
For 10 years, he was a member of the Lewes Fire Department, achieving the rank of captain.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, James and Maude Thompson; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Louise Ward; and his paternal grandfather, Joseph Seymour.
He is survived by his son, Ronald E. Ward Jr., his special K-Byrd; his parents, Janet Hearne of Milton and Ronald Robinson of Lewes; his grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. Collins Washington of Lewes; his siblings, Michelle D. Ward of Milton, Teresa Johnson of Milton, Adrian Jones of Lewes, Maria Perkins of Frankford, Rick Ward of Lewes, Trudy Maker of Lewes and Jeanann Stockley of Baltimore; a special friend, Denise Dowbell of Ellicott City, Md.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and co-workers.
Services will be held Saturday. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with the funeral to follow in St. John the 2nd Baptist Church, Mount Joy, Millsboro.
Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Lewes and family and friends are invited to fellowship in the Lewes Fire Department, Station 2 in Nassau at the conclusion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family to assist in the funeral expenses.
