OCEAN VIEW - Roger Steve Miller passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his niece, Diana Thompson's home in Smyrna, Del. on Tues., July 16, 2013. Mr. Miller was born May 4, 1953 in Jefferson, N.C. the son of the late Arlene Stansberry and Dean Dollinger. He was a self-employed cable contractor for 43 years. Roger had a passion for music and LOVED playing his guitar ever since he was a young child. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, David, Gary, and Ricky Hamby. He is survived by two sons, Roger and Christopher; two daughters, Amanda and Breanna; his sister, Betty Stansberry of Townsend, Del.,; two brothers, Danny Hamby of Townsend and Mark Stansberry, with whom he resided in Ocean View; his companion, Kathryn Vance; and a host of many family members. A viewing will be held on Thurs., July 18, 2013 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will be scheduled in West Jefferson, NC. Burial will be in Powers Cemetery in Lansing, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Badgers Funeral Home PO Box 139, West Jefferson, NC 28694 to help defray funeral expenses.
