Robert Leroy Rifenburg, 69

GREENWOOD - Robert Leroy Rifenburg of Greenwood died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford after a short illness. He was 69.

Mr. Rifenburg was born in Harrington, the son of the late John F. and Frances Short Rifenburg.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Rifenburg worked from 1960 to 1978 for the Sun Oil Co. as a merchant marine.

He then drove for several local trucking companies in Delaware and was currently working for Rifenburg Trucking in Greenwood.

He had a love for the water, motorcycle riding, going to watch go-karts and dirt bike races with his children and grandchildren, and watching his grandchildren play.

Mr. Rifenburg was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7478, Greenwood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Brittingham.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Hunter Rifenburg, Casey L. Rifenburg, Edward L. Rifenburg of Bridgeville, and Michael G. Rifenburg; his wife, Rhonda, all of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Dawn M., Casey J., Morgan L., Caitlyn M. and Nicholas G.; one brother, John H. Rifenburg of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Dorothy I. Swain of Lincoln, Marguerite I. Minner of Dover, and JoAnn I. Hayes of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday in Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call at 3:30 p.m.

Interment will be private.
