Lt. Col. Robert L. Sisson USAF Retired
DOVER - Lt. Col. Robert Lee Sisson USAF (Retired), of Dover, died peacefully in his home on April 15, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; brother, Joe Sisson of Oceanside, Calif.; sister, Elaine McGhee of Madison, Wis.; his sons, Steve Sisson and his wife Vicky of Dover, John Sisson and his wife Carol of Newark; step-daughter, Jennifer Mulveny and husband Jason of Washington D.C.; and two grandchildren, Rachel Sisson and Max Mulveny, all of whom brought him much joy. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1936 and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1961. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years that included service during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1985 as a C-5A Navigator at Dover Air Force Base. Following his military service, he worked at the Delaware Department of Transportation before finally retiring to spend most of his time playing golf and traveling with his wife, Beverly. He was a member of the Dover Elks Club, the American Legion and Wild Quail Golf and Country Club for many years. The family expresses sincere appreciation to Bob's many friends from around the country, who provided much support during the past few months, along with Delaware Hospice, Holy Cross Catholic Church and The Rev. Celeste Cox at Christ Episcopal Church. He was grateful for the medical care provided by Dr. Joseph Speigel at Jefferson Hospital, Dr. Bryan Walsh, Dr. Edward Alexander, Dr. Jose Austria, Dr. Kenny Vu, Dr. Grewall, Delaware Back Pain and Rite Aid Pharmacy staff at Green Tree. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2009, at Christ Episcopal Church, S. State and Water Streets, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Interment will be in Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery.
