Robert James McKennett

Robert James McKennett, 91 DOVER - Robert James McKennett, 91, of Dover, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 23, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Harold and Mary (Sweeney) McKennett. Robert served in the African, Italian and European campaigns of World War II. He retired as a Captain from the Army National Guard after 22 years of service. He had worked as an accountant for Ford, Scott and Associates in Ocean City, N.J., for over 40 years retiring in 1997. Robert was a member of the VFW, MOAA, and the 157th Field Artillery Assoc., and enjoyed music. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Viola McKennett; and his two brothers, Harold and Thomas McKennett. He is survived by a son, Robert McKennett and his wife Melanie of Dover; daughter, Barbara Spindler and her husband Robert of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Crain and her husband David of Layton, Utah, Robert Spindler Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., Scott Spindler and his wife Jenny of Flower Mound, Texas, and Lisa Kiesling and her husband Drew of Dallas, Texas; and a great-grandchild, Grayson Crain of Layton, Utah. Service and burial were held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. Letters of condolences can be sent to www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
