Robert 'Biff' J. Baker, 81
OCEAN VIEW - Robert 'Biff' J. Baker, of Ocean View, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Saturday Jan. 31, 2009, in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born in Wilmington and worked for many years at the E. I. DuPont Company. He served with the US Navy aboard the USS Arkansas during World War II. Biff was past commander of American Legion Stahl Post 30 of New Castle. He was a member of VFW Post 7234 at Quillens Point in Ocean View. He was a also a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jean (Carello) Baker; two step-sons, Eugene Poppitt and his wife Dora of Lincoln, Julius Poppitt and his wife Lois of Lepsic; step-daughter, Angeline Rees and her husband Robert of New Castle; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday- from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach and burial at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
