SMYRNA - Robert "Buzz" Ireland passed away on Aug. 5, 2016, at Kent General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Buzz was born in Dover, to the late Cecil Ireland and Ida Marshall. Buzz proudly served his country in the United States Army, working as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman, during the Vietnam War. He later returned to civilian life and worked for many years on the Delaware Bay as a crabber. He also spent time as a volunteer with the Leipsic Fire Department. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, watching NASCAR and horse racing, and bowling every chance he got. Buzz is survived by Eddie Davis, Sr. and his wife, Kathy, who lovingly provided a home for him almost 17 years ago; Martin and Amy Davis, Allan and Denise Davis, Kandy and Thomas Wooleyhand, and all of their children. He also leaves behind siblings, Walter, Reggie, Ronnie, and Betty; and several cousins A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at Pippin Funeral Home, where friends may gather one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help defray funeral expenses can be sent to Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934.
