WILMINGTON - Rita Ann Harmon-Jacobs of Wilmington departed this life peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, surrounded by family and friends. She was 51.
Rita was born March 30, 1956, to Rita M. Harmon and the late Harvey D. Harmon, in Wilmington.
Rita was married to her loving husband, Sid R. Jacobs, for 21 years.
She was the mother of Rita F. Jacobs and Naya F. Jacobs.
Rita graduated from St. Mark's High School and the University of Delaware.
She had a Masters of Social Work from Delaware State University.
Rita enjoyed her career as a social worker for 28 years.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Rita loved to laugh and had a beautiful smile.
In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by her brothers, Victor Newman and his wife Lee, William "Billy" Harmon and wife Juanita and James Harmon and his wife Barbara; a sister, Charlotte Givens; her in-laws, Alex and Berlene Lewis; a brother-in-law, William "Al" Jacobs; and her friend, Phyllis Chambers-Mobley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1012 French St., Wilmington, where a viewing will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and an AKA ritual will be at 10 a.m.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
