GEORGETOWN - Richard J. Baker, of Georgetown, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, from injuries sustained from an auto accident. He was 50. Mr. Baker was born July 19, 1960, in Newark, N.J., to Jacqueline Wolf Baker and the late Richard H. Baker. He served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1980. After the service he owned and operated the Collectors Corner Antique Shop in Georgetown. He had enjoyed playing poker as well as buying and selling jewelry and antiques. He was well liked by all and always had a kind word to say. Rich was an animal lover and enjoyed his dogs. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father, Richard Baker; and a sister, Debra Munoz. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Giovia of Ripon, Calif.; stepmother, Thelma Baker of Millsboro; his companion, Joyce Talley of Dover and Rehoboth; sister, Laura Wagner and her husband Robert of Wake Forest, N.C.; stepchildren, Jennifer Poole Foster of Baltimore, Md., Kathryn Poole of Estero, Fla., Richard Poole, Jr. of Chantilly, Va., and Steven Poole of Chester, MD; his former wife, Janice Baker of Federalsburg, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro at a later date.
