Richard E. "Dick" Luttrell Jr., 71
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Richard E. "Dick" Luttrell Jr., of Chestertown, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, in his home. He was 71.
Mr. Luttrell was born June 12, 1936, in Annapolis, son of the late Richard E. Sr. and Helen (Hunziker) Luttrell.
He was a star Boy Scout and at the age of 12 he earned a trip to New Mexico.
Mr. Lutrell was employed by Safeway until 1954, and for 21 years was a surveyor for McCrone"s.
He later worked as a private consultant for marine construction.
Mr. Luttrell was a member of the Anne Arundel Co. Competitive Pistol Shooter Association, and past member of the Chestertown Lions Club.
He lived in Chestertown for 40 years, where he loved to fish and hunt and the great outdoors.
Mr. Lutrell was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan Susan Cullis.
Mr. Luttrell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hazel (Dawson) Luttrell; a son, Richard Luttrell and his wife Lynda of Croydon, Pa.; two daughters, Melanie Cullis and Cynthia Luttrell, both of Chestertown; a sister, Helen June Sames of Annapolis; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Cullis-Kirby; and great-grandson, Logan Thomas Kirby.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St.
