Richard Allen 'Rick' Rausch Sr., 54

MILLSBORO - Richard Allen "Rick" Rausch Sr. of Millsboro, formerly of Port Penn, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 54.

Mr. Rausch was born in Wilmington, son of the late James Sr. and Eleanor (Tharp) Rausch.

He was raised in Port Penn and moved to the Millsboro area several years ago.

He was a sheet metal fabricator with Volair Heating and Air Conditioning, New Castle, for 13 years. After moving to Millsboro, he was employed in the same field with Quality Heating and Air, where he worked for three years.

Mr. Rausch loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed Punkin Chunkin and was involved with both the Old Glory and Let's Bounce Chunkin teams. He always helped others in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Gregory Hall.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Barbara A. Cochran; three sons, Jamie Rausch, Richard A. Rausch Jr. and Jason Rausch; two grandchildren, Brianna Rausch and Cody Hall; a sister, Darlene Moody; a brother, James Rausch Jr.; a stepson, Jeffrey Hall; a daughter-in-law, Kristina Hall; a mother-in-law, Fay Brounce; a special friend, Jim Welsh; and a host of extended family and friends who loved and helped care for him.

Services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
