Raymond Joseph Bogan

Raymond Joseph Bogan, 81 MILFORD - Raymond Joseph Bogan, 81, succumbed to a year-long battle with cancer on Aug. 5, 2009. Born Sept. 13, 1927, in Philadelphia, Raymond served honorably in the Navy during World War II, and then moved to the Milford area. He was a lifetime member of the South Bowers Volunteer Fire Company and served as their Fire Chief for more than nine of his 39 years of service. In addition, Raymond served as the President of the Delaware State Fire Chiefs Association. After a career in construction and as a machinist, Raymond worked for Manlove Federated Auto until the onset of his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. and Grace Bogan; and son, Raymond Jr. Above all, Raymond was a devoted family man and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Louise, and his family. Raymond is survived by his six children, daughters, Nancy Leighty, Kathy Webb, and Patty Dawson, and sons, Richard, Jimmy, and Bobby Bogan; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Edward Bogan of Ohio, Robert Bogan, Patricia Andrews, Grace Greenlee and Runae Green, all from the local area, also survive him. Funeral Services were Saturday, Aug. 8, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
