Tech. Sgt. Raymond G. Henry, U.S. Air Force retired, 52

HARRINGTON - Tech. Sgt. Raymond G. Henry, U.S. Air Force retired, of Harrington, died suddenly Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Christiana Hospital, Newark, following a motor vehicle accident. He was 52.

Mr. Henry was born Nov. 26, 1954, in Washington, D.C., son of Helen Jeanette (Rodgers) Henry and the late Lester Adolph Henry.

He was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Md. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Sept. 23, 1974, and was assigned to Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire for three years. He then transferred to Lindsey Air Station in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he served for three years. Then, he served at Dover Air Force Base for 14 years before he retired on Sept. 30, 1994, as a Tech. Sgt. fuel specialist. During his career in the military, he served during the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Following his military career, Mr. Henry worked as a chemical compound mixer at L.D. Caulk in Milford for nearly 10 years before retiring on disability in 2004.

He was a member of the CKRT American Legion Post 7, Harrington. He served as treasurer for the United Methodist Men of Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington.

Mr. Henry was very involved in the Harrington Boy Scouts, having served as committee chairperson, assistant den leader, den leader for the Cub Scouts and den leader for the Weblos. He also served on the Pack Committee and was the cub master. He also enjoyed target shooting.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Adolph Henry.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy Ellen Henry; a son, Daniel Henry of Dover; a daughter, Jennifer Warren, and her husband, Brian, of Dover; a grandson, Bryce Alexander Warren; his mother, Helen Jeanette Henry of Frederick, Md.; a brother, William Henry, and his wife, Karen, of Mount Airy, Md.; his mother-in-law, Mary E. Reed; his sister-in-law, Sandra L. Reed of Brentwood, Md.; two nieces; three nephews; three great-nieces; and a great-nephew.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington.

Burial with military honors will be 2 p.m. in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro.
