FRANKFORD - Rachel M. Parker, of Frankford, formerly of Little Valley, N.Y., passed away at her home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
Mrs. Parker was born in Townville, Pa., on May 28, 1921, daughter to the late Ernest and Iva (Terrill) Mallinee.
She was an aide to the Red Cross during World War II.
Mrs. Parker was family oriented and particularly enjoyed playing and baking with her great-granddaughters, as well as playing music, painting and needlework.
For over 30 years, Mrs. Parker and her late husband devoted their time and efforts to The First Baptist Church of Salamanca, N.Y.
Since moving to Sussex County, she spent countless hours volunteering at the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach.
Mrs. Parker was also very active in the Mariner's Bethel Bell Choir and St. Martha's Bell Choir and a member of the Dorcas Circle at Mariner's Bethel Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul S. Parker Jr., in 1999.
She is survived by her four children, Paul Parker III and his wife Joanna of British Columbia, Dale Parker and his wife Paige of Chester Springs, Pa., Ruth Parker Schifano and her husband Louis of Clarksville and Jane Parker Warren and her husband Howard of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Shryock of Arizona, Corinne Parker of Tokyo, Branden Parker of Arizona, Theresa Schifano O'Shields and her husband Samuel of Dagsboro, Matthew Schifano of Ocean View and Chaplin Warren of New York, N.Y.; and two great-granddaughters, Abigail O'Shields and Savannah O'Shields.
Services and burial will be held privately at Arlington National Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Parker's name to South Coastal Library, 43 Kent Ave., Bethany Beach, DE 19930; or to Delaware Hospice Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Ocean View.
