GEORGETOWN — Leanne Phillips-Lowe was inducted into the Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus Hall of Fame on April 21.
The inductee worked for DelTech from 1986 to 2012 and was the “voice of the Owens Campus” in her role as a public relations manager.
She started at the “southern campus” as a part-time program developer in the Continuing Education department, before becoming a full-time community relations coordinator.
Her roles grew to marketing communications coordinator to public information officer to public relations manager.
Ms. Phillips-Lowe supervised the information desks and campus receptionists, handled weather-related announcements, crafted the weekly messages for the outdoor marquee and approved postings on the portal.
She was also integral to major campus events, including the annual Fourth of July celebration, the Starry, Starry Night Gala, the alumni Walk of Success and the Sussex County Today and Tomorrow Conference.
During her time with the college, Ms. Phillips-Lowe also was part of the ribbon cutting for the Jason Technology Center, the openings of the Student Services Center and the Carter Partnership Center, and the dedication of the Williams Conference Center.
She also served on committees including Graduation, New Student Orientation, Employee Recognition and Open House, as well as the Student Activities Board.
Ms. Phillips-Lowe’s family is composed of her husband, Tony Lowe; her daughter, Kateri Lambrose; her son-in-law, David; her grandchildren, Troy, Kyrsten and Alayna; and her granddaughter-in-law, CarolAnne.
Outside of DelTech, Ms. Phillips-Lowe served on the Seaford City Council for 13 years, was on the board of directors of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Seaford, and the American Association of University Women. She also is a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. In 2013, she was a recipient of the annual Women’s Day Award.
