MILFORD - Pablo E. Olivera Carraballo, of Milford, departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 79.
He was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
He is the son of the late Segundo Olivera and Ramonita Carraballo Olivera.
Mr. Olivera traveled to the United States during his late teens where he was employed as a factory worker and met his late wife Dorothy Mae White Olivera.
He later dedicated his life to the Lord.
He attended the Milford Revival Center Pastored by Apostle Lawrence Spady where he was ordained into the Ministry. There he began his journey in evangelism, visiting, teaching and providing spiritual support for the sick and those that were in need.
Mr. Olivera established and pastored the 1st Spanish American Penecostal Church in Milford.
He believed in fellowship and visited many churches in Delaware and abroad. Mr. Olivera was a man of many talents and skills.
He completed many odd jobs and tasks for others in the community. He was a hard worker and truly believed that a man should work by the sweat of his brow.
He came from a family of carpenters, bricklayers and musicians.
He was a minister of music, blessing those with his skillful playing the guitar with much passion that could be felt and heard.
Mr. Olivera was also mechanically inclined. Anything broken was fixed or re-routed.
He loved the beach and crabbing with his family. He enjoyed baseball and playing kickball with the family.
His favorite past time was reading the Bible, sharing the information with his family and others. His favorite quote to his children was respect, obedience, and honoring your parents.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Olivera was preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law, Elsie White of Milford; his brothers and sisters of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Angelmido Olivera, Armando Olivera, Josafina Olivera, Francisca Olivera, Palmira Olivera and Feliu Olivera.
He is survived by one brother, Benjamin Olivera Carraballo and his wife Teresa of Ponce, Puerto Rico; two brothers-in-law, James White and Joseph White of Milford; his children, Pedro T. White and his wife Darlyn and Alicia S. Olivera Rodriguez and her husband Ernesto and Palmina Olivera of Milford, and Pablo S. Olivera of North Bowers Beach; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Connecticut, Puerto Rico and Delaware.

Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 274 N. Rehoboth Blvd., Milford.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Jesus Love Temple, 106 W. Walnut St., Milford, where friends may also call two hours prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.
