Phil was a music teacher at Henderson High School in West Chester, Pa., Mt. Pleasant Jr. High, Talley Jr. High, and Wilmington High School. He served as Musical Director for numerous productions with the Ardensingers and as Choir Director for First Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Pa., and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. He also did solo work with churches, synagogues, and oratorio societies throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. He sang with many well-known musical directors, including Robert Elmore, Clarence Snyder, and William Smith. After his retirement from teaching in 1983, Phil enjoyed researching his family history, composing music, and working on his computer and Sudoku puzzles. He is survived by June, his wife of 60 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Margaret Steinhoff of Dover; his son, George Steinhoff; and daughter, Karla Steinhoff, both of Newark; and his beloved granddaughter, Lorraine Steinhoff, also of Dover.
