HENDERSON, Md. - Norman Franklin Bartz Sr., of Henderson, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. He was 76.

He was born on June 20, 1932, in Worton to the late Martha Bartz Blackiston.

Mr. Bartz attended school in Worton and then enlisted in the Army.

He served during the Korean War where he was trained as a mechanic. After the Army he worked various jobs.

Mr. Bartz started with Lyson Motors as a service manager.

He then owned and operated Ingleside Service Center along with Bill Thawley.

Mr. Bartz went on to open his own business known as Bartz Repair and Tow Service.

He retired in 2003 but continued to work part time with Jay's Automotive.

He was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church of Goldsboro.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Bartz was preceded in death by his two daughters, Sandra Marie Greenley and Patricia Ann Bartz.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margurette "Peggy" Melvin Bartz; two sons, Norman F. Bartz and wife Diane of Henderson and J. Thomas "Tommy" Bartz and wife Pat of Marydel; one daughter, Brenda Bartz Sipple of Henderson; two brothers, Herman Butch Reynolds and wife Diane and Julius Bucky Reynolds and wife Gladys, both of Worton; sisters, Wanda Kendall and husband Ralph Sr. of Middletown, Del., Nancy Dickerson of Chestertown, Audrey Beck of Worten, and Linda Hewes and husband Frank of Townsend, Del.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in New Life Wesleyan Church, Greensboro, where friends may call one hour prior.

Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.

Arrangements by Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, P.A., 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.
