Nettie Virginia Groves, 82

SEAFORD - Nettie Virginia Groves of Seaford died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 82.

Mrs. Groves was born July 4, 1924, in Seaford.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Groves; a son, James Matthews; three sisters, Mildred Matthews, Florence Trammell and Pearl Gardner; and two brothers, James and William Matthews.

She is survived by a son, Richard Matthews; a daughter, Violet Brown; five sisters, Anna Mae, Viola and Nellie Matthews of Seaford, Geneva Pritchett of Mount Holly, N.J., and Nora Williams of Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Matthews; a son-in-law, Robert Brown; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Williams of Philadelphia, and William Gardner of Seaford; nine grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The viewing will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Mount Calvary A.M.E. Church, Concord.

Services will follow at noon in the church.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements by Young's Funeral Home, Seaford.
